Locher brewery is nominated “Switzerland’s Best Whisky Distillery 2011”.On the occasion of the publication of the new "Switzerland 2012 Whisky Guide", the Appenzell-based brewery was nominated "Whisky Distillery 2011" by a jury of experts.This distinction reflects the passion and fastidious attention to detail which characterise work in the brewery.An honourable mark of distinction.

For the publication of the new "Switzerland 2012 Whisky Guide", a jury of experts nominated "Switzerland’s Best Whisky Awards 2011" in four categories: "Switzerland’s Best Whisky Bar", "Switzerland’s Best Whisky Shop", "Switzerland’s Best Whisky Innovation" and – new this year – "Switzerland’s Best Whisky Distillery".

Locher brewery in Appenzell was awarded the title "Switzerland’s Best Whisky Distillery 2011". The Locher AG Brewery was purchased in 1886 by the Locher family, and is now the last remaining brewery in the Appenzell region. This independent, family-run business is famed for its beer specialities. Every year, the very best malts and hops are combined by the master brewer to create special mixes which are always hugely popular with beer connoisseurs. But Locher brewery not only brews good beer; it also produces Säntis Malt Whisky, the reputation and popularity of which is steadily increasing.

All these factors served to satisfy the jury of the "Switzerland 2012 Whisky Guide", who this year elected Locher brewery as "Switzerland’s Best Whisky Distillery 2011".
